Anzac private tour from Paris - Program & Itinerary

Participate in this Anzac private tour from Paris that will take you to the battlefields of the Somme area of France. In the morning, meet your English-speaking driver guide at your accommodation in Paris.

At first, you will be introduced to your program and itinerary for this full-day tour. The battle of the Somme is on your program and highlights of this private tour include the Memorial at Villers Bretonneux, the Sir John Monash Center, the Lochnagar Mine Crater at La Boisselle, as well as Beaumont-Hamel preserved battlefields.

The Australian National Memorial and Villers Bretonneux Cemetery

Depart at 8.00 am on board your air-conditioned vehicle and head towards the Somme area. After a drive of about 2 hours, we will reach our first stop: the Australian National Memorial at Villers Bretonneux military cemetery.

The memorial commemorates the fallen Australian men of the 1st World War which totalled more than 10,000 men. After some time on site it will be time to visit the Sir John Monash Centre that has been designed to educate on the role of Australia on the Western Front.

Lochnagar Mine Crater and Thiepval Memorial

Then, reach the Lochnagar crater, where your tour of the Somme battle will continue. This unique site will help you understand what an underground explosive charge was about and the role of the Tunneling companies during the war.

This will be followed by another stop at the Thiepval Memorial, which commemorates more than 72,000 men from British and South African forces who perished in the Somme in 1916. It is the largest Commonwealth Memorial to the missing in the world.

Pozieres 1s Division memorial

Your battlefield day trip will then take you to the Poziere Memorial which commemorates the forces that were killed during the first days of the Battle of the Somme.
