ITINERARY

DAY 1 PARIS – ÉPERNAY – REIMS – TROYES

From Paris, we’ll begin our journey to Troyes. En route, we’ll be treated to a delicious champagne tasting in Épernay, as well as a visit to the impressive Reims Cathedral. In the evening we’ll dine together in Troyes, our home for the next two nights. (D)

DAY 2 TROYES – CH TEAU DE VAUX – TROYES

On the agenda today: a walking tour of Troyes, where we’ll take the opportunity to visit a local market. Afterwards, we’ll visit the grand Château de Vaux, which was built in the 1700s for the Aubeterre family. (B)

DAY 3 TROYES – BEAUNE

Day three of the trip will see us sample more world-class local produce when we swap fizz for the dry white wines of Chablis at a wine tasting. Then, afternoon will bring us to Beaune, where you’ll have the evening free to explore this attractive city known for its Gothic architecture. (B,D)

DAY 4 BEAUNE

Today we’ll spend some more time in the beating heart of the Burgundy wine region with a visit to the Hospices de Beaune. Originally founded as a hospital for the poor by the chancellor of Burgundy back in 1443, the unique building is now a museum and an exceptional example of fifteenth-century French architecture. Afterwards, you’ll be free to explore Beaune at your own pace. (B)

DAY 5 BEAUNE – SAVOIE
On day five, we’ll leave Beaune behind and set our sights on Savoie – but en route, we’ll make a stop at Château de la Greffière. Famous for its vineyards, the property also has a winery and a museum on-site. (B,L)

DAY 6 SAVOIE – ANNECY – SAVOIE

We’ll check off a highlight of the tour on day six – the postcard-perfect alpine town of Annecy. Annecy is a must-visit while passing through southeastern France and is known for its Old Town, canals that rival those of Venice, candy-coloured houses and cobbled streets. Also on the cards today will be a visit to a traditional fromagerie. (B,D)

DAY 7 SAVOIE – VERCORS

We’ll get the chance to sample more tasty local produce today when we explore a Chartreuse cellar and distillery. The famous French liqueur has been produced by Carthusian Monks since 1737 and is infused with an array of plants, herbs and flowers. This afternoon, our road will take us through the region of Vercors. (B,D)

DAY 8 VERCORS – SISTERON – FORCALQUIER

Our road will turn towards Provence today. Alpine slopes will give way to rugged hills and wildflower meadows when we travel to Sisteron, stopping at the Sisteron Citadel along the way. Later, we’ll reach Forcalquier where we’ll settle in for a farewell dinner and final overnight stay. (B,D)

DAY 9 FORCALQUIER – ENTREVAUX – NICE

Our closing day will take us deeper into exquisite Provençal countryside and through Entrevaux. Then, we’ll finish our tour in Nice – the elite resort and shining capital of the French Riviera. There’s no better place to end our journey than among the golden beaches and clear waters of the Côte d’Azur. (B)
