2019 D-DAY 75th ANNIVERSARY TOUR

London - Normandy - London

Trace the events that left a mark on the 20th century – and on France’s northern fringes, and see the places you’ve read about in history books, setting the scene for an unforgettable experience.

The 6th June 2019 will witness the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings, one of the turning points of the Second World War. By nightfall more than 150,000 Allied soldiers had been successfully landed and it marked the beginning of the end of Nazi Germany and the first step in the road to Victory in the West. The full details of the commemorations have yet to be released, so it is impossible to be precise about what ceremonies we will attend on the tour or which locations we will visit on our tour days. However, we will be aiming to focus on the British and Commonwealth beaches and battlefields including Gold, Juno and Sword, as well as the Pegasus Bridge area. Traditionally ceremonies we attend include the Royal British Legion event at Bayeux War Cemetery and the veteran’s event in Arromanches. Nearer the time we aim to publish more details of the final itinerary on the Leger website and Social Media.

Programme highlights

  • D-Day beaches
  • Arromanches
  • Bayeux Was Cemetery

ITINERARY - (in progress)

Day 1 - Departing form London by coach, then to Normandy for a four-nights stay.

Day 3We attend a ceremony in Normandy to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. This is likely to be at either Arromanches or Bayeux, and possibly at both locations.

Day 4We continue with our visits to British and Commonwealth locations in Normandy, looking at some D-Day and post D-Day battlefields in the Bayeux to Caen area.

Day 5 - Tour Ends Return home.

NOTE: This itinerary is still being finalised and will have minors changes - it will be published once we have received final detail of the D-Day ceremony procedures as well as Hotels and restaurants confirmation.
